In 2015, Alden performed a targeted audit of 296 manholes and handholes during an inventory trial project for a Tier 1 Communications Carrier in the US as a proof of concept.
The communications provider initially invested $65k to perform the conduit vault audit trial.
17% of the vaults surveyed had trespass from various third parties.
Trespassing companies were fined $23k for unauthorized occupancy. Upon contractual review, our client was able to charge the trespassers two years’ of back rent worth $58k, plus the next full year’s rent, which was $29k.
For rent alone, the trespassing companies paid the communications company $87k.
• The trespassers had to re-pay our client's initial investment of $65,000 that they had invested for Alden's trial underground audit.
• The underground audit Alden Systems performed on behalf of our client resulted in the Tier 1 Communications carrier profiting $175,000.
If this inventory had not occurred, this revenue would have been lost, and the violations would have continued to pile up.
